Practitioners come to TRTP for different reasons.
Some want a clearly structured process for working with trauma-related presentations. Some are looking for a way to address underlying distress rather than remaining focused solely on symptom management. Others want to understand how unconscious beliefs, survival responses and self-sabotaging patterns may continue to affect a client’s life.

TRTP Practitioner Training is not intended to replace your existing professional foundation, judgement or broader approach to client care. It provides a specialist process that eligible practitioners can integrate within their qualifications, professional responsibilities and scope of practice.
The Richards Trauma Process is a structured, three-step process that is individually adapted to the needs and presentation of each client.
Within the TRTP model, practitioners work with the conscious and unconscious aspects of trauma-related distress. The process includes client assessment, preparation, psychoeducation, work with unconscious beliefs, trauma processing, review and future-focused resourcing.
TRTP is designed to help practitioners work with:
The client does not need to provide a detailed verbal account of everything that happened to them. Practitioners are trained to identify the information required to assess suitability and guide the process without unnecessarily taking the client back through a detailed trauma narrative.
TRTP Practitioner Training progressively develops the knowledge, practical skills and judgement required to apply the process with appropriate clients.
By completing the program requirements, participants will learn how to:
TRTP is not delivered as a one-off introductory workshop or a collection of scripts.
The 18-week program is designed to take participants through a staged learning and application pathway:
This structure allows participants to build their understanding progressively rather than being expected to move directly from theory into unsupported client work.

TRTP Practitioner Training is delivered entirely online over 18 weeks.
New modules, videos, assessments and training resources are released progressively throughout the teaching component of the program.
Modules are completed within weekly milestone requirements so that the cohort remains prepared for the live training sessions.
Participants attend regular live Zoom sessions with TRTP trainers.
These sessions may include:
Experiential breakout-room activities are not recorded. Attendance requirements are shown on the individual intake page.
Participants practise relevant elements of the process with other members of their cohort.
Partner work provides an opportunity to experience TRTP from both the practitioner and client perspectives and to develop fluency before working independently with clients.
The private online community is hosted within the TRTP training environment rather than on a public social-media platform.
Participants can ask training questions, receive guidance from trainers, learn from their peers and remain connected between the live calls.
Online quizzes, assignments and practical activities help participants consolidate their knowledge and demonstrate their understanding of the process.
The first training block establishes the foundations of the process.
Participants explore:
By the end of this block, participants will have developed the foundational understanding required to begin learning the three TRTP sessions.
This block teaches the preparation and first stage of the client process.
Participants learn how to:
This block teaches the structured and individually adapted process used to work with the distress connected to significant past events.
Participants learn how to:
The final teaching block focuses on reviewing change and helping the client move toward the future.
Participants learn how to:
Understanding the process intellectually is not the same as applying it with a real client.
During the final four weeks, participants begin working with appropriate clients while continuing to receive structured support from TRTP trainers and their cohort.
The live calls during this phase focus on practical application, including:
Participants also retain access to the private cohort community between calls.
The formal 18-week training program is only the beginning of developing confidence and fluency.
For six months after the training program, participants receive continued TRTP-specific practice mentoring and case consultation at no additional cost.
This support is designed to help practitioners apply the process responsibly while they develop experience with a broader range of client presentations.
Participants can bring de-identified client scenarios and practical questions to experienced TRTP trainers.
Questions may relate to:
The calls also provide valuable peer learning. Participants benefit not only from their own questions, but from hearing the range of situations being discussed by other practitioners.
Participants retain access to the private TRTP community throughout the included support period.
The community allows participants to:
Participants continue to have access to their TRTP training resources and relevant support-call recordings during the six-month practice integration period.
The included calls provide TRTP-specific education, practice mentoring and case consultation.
They are not a substitute for formal clinical supervision and should not be described as recognised supervision or professional development unless that status has been confirmed by the participant’s relevant professional association or regulatory body.
Participants remain responsible for:
Applications are welcomed from professionals whose existing qualifications, experience and work provide an appropriate foundation for learning and applying TRTP.
